Young Achievers program
Sutherland Shire Council is a proud sponsor of the Young Achievement Australia Business Skills Program. Council has sponsored the program since 1992, and supports the program in partnership with community representatives and past students.
The Business Skills Program is designed to teach year 11 High School students how to set-up and run a company. Past students, parents, teachers and council staff all report that it is a great way for young people to learn valuable business and life skills in a fun non threatening environment.
YAA's goal is to ease the transition from school to work by providing practical, hands–on experience. The program provides activities directly relevant to building employability skills and key competencies. By giving people first–hand insights into the workings of private enterprise and industry, it allows students to be better prepared when they start looking for employment.
Students wishing to join the program can register their interest on the YAA website at www.yaa.org.au.
